A peek inside my watercolor class

16

I have always wanted to take a watercoloring course and I thought that abroad would be a great opportunity to do so especially since a majority of the classes were partially spent exploring different drawing sites around Copenhagen. My interest in learning how to water color actually started several years ago when I saw several architectural drawings and renderings that incorporated the use of watercolor. I was blown away by how much the drawings were enhanced by the introduction of this medium. While the main focus of this course was not specifically how to apply watercolors to architecture studio work, the course teaches all the necessary skills to apply watercoloring in whatever way we would like.

I am including most of my watercolor paintings below (the paintings are for the most part in chronological order so that you can get an idea of the very beginner skill level I began the course with and then my progress over time). A large part of my wonderful experience in this class is definitely thanks to the professor, though this past semester was unfortunately his last semester with DIS before retiring. I cannot speak highly enough of this professor as well as my other professors that I have had during my time at DIS. Overall my experience has been that each professor seems to genuinely care about your personal development during the course and that you are making the most out of your abroad experience.

I am writing this post near the end of my time at DIS and I am so happy with how much I have grown not only as a watercolorist but as an individual.
