These past couple of days I have spent traveling in western Denmark! DIS Copenhagen has “Program Study Tours,” which are trips every student participates in. The first of the two Study Tours is called Core Course Week (aka the short study tour), where you attend a two-day seminar at DIS and then travel to western Denmark on a three-day trip with students from your area of study. For Architecture and Design students, we visited numerous buildings and museums and spent time learning, exploring and documenting what we saw (through photography, sketching, water coloring, etc). Later in the semester I will attend the second of the two Study Tours, the long study tour. For the longer study tour week the travels take place outside of Denmark in 2 European countries (either Germany and Switzerland or Finland and Sweden for Architecture & Design students). I will be attending the trip to Finland and Sweden! The nice part about these trips is that not only do you get to travel and see amazing works of architecture, but also the traveling expenses and meal expenses are already included in the price you pay to attend DIS. Overall I had an amazing week. The design instructor who led my trip was soo nice and knowledgeable as was the DIS staff assistant who also joined us on the trip. It is hard to narrow it down but if I had to choose my top 3 favorite sites we visited I would choose Aarhus Crematorium Chapel, ARoS Kunstmuseum and Koldinghus.

Below I have added photos of the highlights from each of the site locations we visited. If you place your cursor over the photo or click on the photo the name of the place/building should pop up.
